Malaysia’s Crown Prince Launches $121M Crypto Treasury – Despite Bubble Fears
Malaysia’s Crown Prince has entered the digital-asset sector with a state-backed stablecoin initiative and a $121 million crypto-treasury plan. The MOVE comes amid growing concerns about the fragility of the global digital-asset treasury boom.
Bullish Aim Sdn. Bhd., chaired by His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, launched RMJDT, a ringgit-backed stablecoin on the Zetrix blockchain. The rollout was supervised by Malaysia’s regulated sandbox, overseen by the Securities Commission and Bank Negara Malaysia.
The initiative aims to strengthen the ringgit’s role in cross-border settlements and attract foreign direct investment. Malaysia’s central bank is also exploring asset tokenization and digital assets, including potential use cases for tokenized deposits and CBDCs.
